Darjeeling, 14th February: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, in a press release, congratulated the candidates who won the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) elections and thanked all the BJP karyakartas, candidates, leaders, and citizens of Siliguri for making BJP the second largest party securing 24% of the total votes polled.
He also mentioned the 2015 SMC elections, where BJP had only two councilors in SMC and said “It is because of the love of people, and the hard work of our karyakartas that despite the TMC threats, violence, direct and indirect administrative support to TMC, this time around, we have been able to win in five wards, and in the wards where we have come second, the loss margin has been thin.”
He assured the people that BJP will play the role of a responsible opposition and provide all help and support to transform Darjeeling hills, Siliguri, Terai, Dooars, and the entire North Bengal region, and is hopeful that those who have won will work sincerely for the city and the people.
