Bagdogra, 28th June: Members of the BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest at the Bagdogra police station on Saturday, demanding strict punishment for the accused in the alleged gang rape of a student at a law college in Kolkata.
The protest was led by the Lower Bagdogra Gossainpur Mandal BJP Mahila Morcha. The demonstrators marched to the police station, raising slogans and expressing outrage over the incident. It was alleged during the protest that the accused committed the crime under the protection of the ruling party.
Jyotsna Barman of the Lower Bagdogra Gossainpur Mandal BJP Mahila Morcha, said that although the accused have been arrested, the action appears to be superficial, and justice is unlikely to be served.
The BJP demanded a transparent probe and strict legal action against those involved.
