Siliguri, 19th December: Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Siliguri Organizational District, on Sunday, staged a road blockade in Siliguri Hashmi Chowk accusing the state’s ruling party of killing democracy.
Matigara Naxalbari MLA Anandamoy Barman and Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh were present at the demonstration programme.
In this regard, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president Kanchan Debnath said that BJP had been continuously demanding central forces knowing that Kolkata municipal elections would not be peaceful. Violent incidents have taken place in Kolkata since the election commenced. After this incident, the party has started protesting across the state.
