Cooch Behar, 26th December: The members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed “Veer Baal Diwas” at a Gurudwara in Cooch Behar. During this, BJP President of Cooch Behar district and MLA of Uttar Cooch Behar Constituency Sukumar Roy, Cooch Behar Dakshin Assembly constituency MLA Nikhil Ranjan Dey, and other BJP leaders were in attendance.
Notably, the day is celebrated in commemoration of two Sikh individuals who were martyred after being subjected to atrocities during the Mughal Empire. In honour of the martyred, on Tuesday, the BJP leaders visited a Gurudwara in Cooch Behar. The primary reason behind the visit was to inspect the Gurudwaras that need immediate restoration and undertake renovation works in the upcoming days.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA of Dakshin Cooch Behar Constituency Nikhil Ranjan Dey, stated that as per the instructions of the Prime Minister, the members of the Sikh Community including BJP are observing “Veer Baal Diwas” across the country. He further mentioned the legacy behind the day in significance to paying homage to the martyred.
