Cooch Behar, 30th June: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) organized a protest demonstration in front of the District Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Cooch Behar on Friday. The protest was staged in response to alleged intimidation of BJP workers throughout the district and the purported unjust arrest of a BJP candidate.
According to sources, the protest commenced this morning with BJP leaders and MLAs leading the demonstration. As the protest progressed, party workers and supporters joined them outside the SP office. During the protest, the BJP questioned the arrest of their candidate on past charges, calling for equal treatment to be applied to Trinamool Congress (TMC) members.
Subsequently, the BJP leaders held a meeting with the Additional District Superintendent of Police (ASP), Kumar Sunny Raj, after staging the protest for approximately four and a half hours. Following assurances from the police to address their concerns, the protest was eventually called off.
