BJP Mahila Morcha launch ‘Thana Shuddhikaran’ at Siliguri Police Station in protest

Siliguri, 23rd September: The BJP Mahila Morcha has taken to the streets with brooms and holy Ganga water, to carry out a ‘Thana Shuddhikaran’ at the local police station. This initiative is a response to the escalating incidents of violence against women and in demand of accountability from law enforcement in North Bengal.


According to reports, allegations have emerged over the past few months that the police are failing to address the rising rates of crime, including harassment and rape, against women. Members of the Mahila Morcha accused the police of indifference and compromising their duty to protect the citizens. In protest, they swept the police station and sprinkled Ganga water to change the mindset of the police.

District President of the BJP Mahila Morcha, Tarpita Sarkar, stated that violence against women has been on the rise across North Bengal. As a result, the cleanliness drive has been arranged to remind the police of their duties. The Mahila Morcha further demanded the law enforcement of the state for justice in R.G. Kar case and other such heinous crimes against women.
