BJP leaders burn effigy of China’s President Xi Jinping in Siliguri, several detained

Siliguri, 17th June: At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash with Chinese troops at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh.


The Siliguri police, on Wednesday, detained several BJP leaders and activists, while they staged demonstrations in the Siliguri Hashmi Chowk area and burnt the effigy of China’s President Xi Jinping. Following this, a clash erupted between the BJP leaders and the police officials.

According to police sources, they were compelled to intervene as the protestors blocked the roads to burn the effigy of Xi Jinping. The entire incident caused a stir in the area.


On the other hand, a protest rally was also staged on behalf of the Siliguri Seth Srilal Market. The police then detained several people and took them to the police station.
