Kharibari, 23rd August: Tensions ran high at the Kharibari police station as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged a protest on Friday, demanding justice in the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital. The demonstration was part of a state-wide agitation called by the BJP in response to the incident.
Reportedly, BJP supporters and workers marched towards the Kharibari police station, but were halted by the police with barricades before they could enter the premises. To prevent any escalation, additional police forces were deployed around the station.
Manik Barman, President of the BJP District Kisan Morcha, described the tragic incident as a planned crime. He emphasized that protests are being held across the state in response to the incident.
