Siliguri, 02nd May: BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh won from the Siliguri assembly constituency by defeating Sanjukta Morcha CPIM candidate Ashok Bhattacharya and Trinamool candidate Omprakash Mishra.
Incidentally, he left CPIM and joined BJP a few days before the announcement of the elections. Following this, the ‘Guru-Shishya’ (teacher-student) fight took pace in the Siliguri assembly. But at the end of the day, the smile of victory was on Shankar’s face.
