Siliguri, 27th July: A motorcyclist tragically lost his life after being hit by a truck on the National Highway 31 (NH31) in Bidhan Nagar.
The incident took place when the two-wheeler was travelling from Bidhan Nagar towards Muraliganj. A truck travelling in the same direction rear-ended the motorcycle, causing the biker to lose control and fall on the road. During this, the biker was run over by the truck leading to his immediate death.
Meanwhile, the truck driver left the vehicle and absconded upon being alerted of the police stationed at the Muraliganj Checkpost. The cops of Bidhannagar Investigation Centre arrived at the scene, recovered the body and sent it to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. The vehicles involved in the incident were taken in custody while the incident is under further investigation.
