Bike catches fire while moving on Siliguri’s Eastern Bypass, rider escapes unhurt

Siliguri, 25th June: A moving motorcycle suddenly caught fire at Baneswar More, near Siliguri’s Eastern Bypass, creating panic in the area late Tuesday night.


According to reports, a young man was travelling from NJP to Choto Fapri when flames erupted from his bike upon reaching Baneswar More. Reacting swiftly, the rider jumped off the bike and narrowly escaped serious injury.

Locals rushed to douse the fire by pouring water, but the blaze had already engulfed the vehicle, reducing it to ashes.


Bhakti Nagar Traffic Police and Ashighar Outpost Police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the information. The burnt bike was recovered and taken to the Ashighar Outpost. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire and to verify the absence of valid documents for the vehicle.

The youth informed stated that he had purchased the bike just a day earlier for ₹7,000 and was on his way to his in-laws’ house in Choto Fapri. He also admitted that the bike had no official documents.
