Rajganj, 22nd November: Two bike-borne miscreants fired bullets at two men in a populated area of Rajganj, on Sunday evening. Trinamool leader Saleman Mohammad and a lottery seller named Tapan Prasad Mahato were injured in the incident. The incident surfaced from the Bhutkihaat area of Rajganj. Both the victims were admitted to a private hospital in Siliguri. The TMC leader is currently in a critical condition.
According to local sources, Saleman Mohammad and Tapan Prasad were at a lottery shop near Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway in the Bhutkihat area of Rajganj. Allegedly, two miscreants on a motorcycle fired bullets and fled away. After the incident, panic spread in the whole area.
Rajganj police, Siliguri police commissioner Gaurav Sharma and NJP police arrived at the spot on Monday morning. Rajganj MLA Khageshwar Roy also reached the crime scene. Police heard details of the incident from locals and also spoke to the injured lottery seller.
Rajganj MLA Khageshwar Roy said, “I do not understand the reason for such an incident. I have asked the police to investigate the incident and punish the culprits.”
