Siliguri, 30th January: The Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard has launched a campaign against footpath encroachment in the Haiderpara area of Siliguri.
As part of the operation, traffic police carried out a drive against encroachment, warning traders who had occupied the footpaths and people who had parked vehicles illegally. Business owners were instructed to vacate the footpaths and conduct their business without obstructing public movement. At present, the focus is on creating awareness.
Officials from the Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard stated that if rules are violated again in the coming days, strict action will be taken against the offenders.
It was also stated that the Siliguri Metropolitan Police has been carrying out multiple initiatives across the city to curb encroachment in order to reduce traffic congestion. The Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard added that this campaign will continue regularly in the future.
