Siliguri, 28th May: In a significant crackdown, Bhakti Nagar police conducted a raid in a house in Shastri Nagar, Ward No. 41 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals caught gambling red-handed.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ganesh Singh, Kailash Gurung, Ramesh Sharma, Ajay Subba, Amar Limbu, Jitendra Singh, Himal Mahato, Manoj Gupta, and Tika Dhamal, and Rahul Mishra. Reportedly, the house belongs to Prakash Singh was also apprehended.
As per sources, acting on a tip-off about anti-social activities at the house, SI Rantu Halder led the raid, successfully capturing the suspects in the act. In addition, the police also seized over Rs 42,000 in cash and several objectionable items from the gambling site.
Meanwhile, the police registered cases against all accused under relevant legal sections, and presented them before the Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday.
