Banner tearing incident sparks allegations and denials ahead of Abhishek Banerjee’s program in Mathabhanga

Cooch Behar, 22nd April: The Alengmari area of Mathabhanga Block No. 1 witnessed a tense situation when a banner of Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee was torn down just ahead of his scheduled program. The Mathabhanga police immediately reached the spot after receiving the news of the incident.

Pachagar Zone Trinamool Congress President, Sanjay Biswas expressed his disappointment and said that they had put up the banner to ensure the success of Abhishek Banerjee’s program at Mathabhanga College grounds on April 25. He alleged that BJP was behind the banner’s destruction and aimed to disrupt the program.

However, Shekhar Roy, President of BJP’s Circle No. 4, denied all allegations and said that BJP strongly stands against such acts. He speculated that the incident might be a result of the ongoing factional struggle within Trinamool. He also suggested that the banner could have been torn down due to the storm that occurred the previous day. Roy accused Trinamool of making false allegations against BJP.
