Siliguri, 23rd February: Bangiya Hindu Mahamancha members demonstrated outside Siliguri Police Station on Monday, raising concerns over increasing road accidents and the city’s law and order situation.
The organisation took out a rally before reaching the police station, where members demonstrated against what they described as administrative inaction. Several leaders, members, and supporters were present during the protest programme.
Speaking on the occasion, president Bikram Aditya Mondal questioned the role of the administration, alleging that despite repeated accidents in the city, effective preventive measures have not been implemented. He also raised concerns over whether CCTV cameras installed at key locations across Siliguri are functioning properly.
He urged the mayor to publicly clarify the operational status of the city’s CCTV surveillance system and, if necessary, to present relevant CCTV footage before the media to ensure transparency.
After the demonstration, representatives of Bangiya Hindu Mahamancha submitted a memorandum at the police station outlining their demands.
