Siliguri, 16th August: The PWD has urged the Siliguri Metropolitan Police to close the Balasan Bridge for four days, from 19 August to 22 August. Reportedly, the repair work of the damaged No. 03 pillar of Balasan Bridge has been completed and thus PWD has decided to remove the temporary Bailey bridge over Balasan.
It is to recall, last year in October due to heavy rains, the No. 03 pillar of the Balasan Bridge was damaged and the Bailey bridge was built on Balasan. After this, two additional pillars were constructed by the PWD near the damaged pillar whose construction work has now been completed. People and locals are ecstatic and happy on hearing the news of the opening of the two bridges like before.
