Naxalbari, 20th May: The Bagdogra Forest Department, in collaboration with Bagdogra Traffic Police and various voluntary organizations, launched an awareness campaign aimed at preventing road accidents involving wild animals. Today, the speed limit on the road from Atal to Bagdogra in Naxalbari was set at 40 km per hour to ensure the safety of wildlife.
The Bagdogra Forest Department, Traffic Police, and members of voluntary organizations have urged people travelling on national highways to adhere to the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ program. Sameeran Raj, Ranger of Bagdogra Forest Department, highlighted that there have been several instances of conflicts between wildlife and humans at six points along the Asian Highway-2 road. To prevent such accidents, he added that it is crucial to drive at a speed of 40 km per hour.
