Naxalbari, 28th July: In observance of World Anti-Human Trafficking Day, the Darjeeling Mary Ward Social Centre hosted an awareness camp in Naxalbari.
On this day, this camp was organized at Naxalbari Community Hall in the presence of administration officials, border guards, panchayat Pradhans, and the youths of 20 tea gardens under the Siliguri sub-division. This camp was organized to prevent the young men and women of the tea garden area from being lured out under the deception of employment opportunities.
In this regard, the project coordinator of Darjeeling Mary Ward Social Centre, Kaushik Roy Chowdhury, highlighted the centre’s commitment to preventing human trafficking through awareness campaigns. Additionally, the centre provides training and creates job opportunities through various projects throughout the year.
