Rajganj, 14th June: Miscreants who looted a bank ATM in Boulbari Bazar, Maynaguri, on Friday night abandoned their vehicle and fled into the forest area after being chased by police.
Reports indicate that the ATM was broken open late at night, and the robbers escaped with cash suspected to be worth several lakhs. The exact amount is yet to be confirmed. Upon receiving the alert, police from Maynaguri police station reached the spot and issued alerts to nearby stations.
During the search operation, police from Gajoldoba Outpost spotted a four-wheeler near the Baikunthapur forest. The suspects, on noticing the police, abandoned the vehicle and fled into the nearby forest.
The police recovered the abandoned vehicle, which contained multiple number plates, but the accused remain at large. A joint search operation by the police and forest department is underway.
