Siliguri, 21st July: Allegations have been levelled against Shakibul Islam, a resident of Assam, for trying to trade his lover using the promise of marriage.
As per the information, the young woman had been in a love affair with Shakibul for the past 6 months. Allegedly, after promising to marry her, the couple eloped last Thursday. They then stayed at Shakibul’s elder sister’s house for two days, where the duo allegedly had sexual intercourse.
Speculating about the mischievous plan of Shakibul, the woman fled away from the house and headed towards the Gurung Basty traffic point. Following this, she informed the entire incident to the on-duty traffic police officials.
She claims Shakibul had planned to sell her in the area adjacent to Kumartuli. The incident was reported to the Pradhan Nagar police, who reached the spot shortly after and took her to the police station.
Meanwhile, the accused Shakibul Islam has been absconding since the incident. Police have launched an investigation into the whole incident.
