Siliguri, 25th December: Ashok Bhattacharya visited every doorstep in Siliguri’s Ward No. 28 and heard out the grievances of the residents.
Reportedly, around 90% of people living in this ward belong to poor families.
Most of the complaints were regarding drinking water facilities. The people alleged that they have no other option other than to rely on tap water. At present, there are several water taps in the area, but most of them do not work properly. Apparently, the people residing in the ward drink water from the well to quench their thirst.
In this regard, Bhattacharya said that deep tubewells are being set up in Ward No. 27 to solve the problem. Once the work is completed, the problem in this area will be solved.
