Siliguri, 06th January: The Ashighar Sub Traffic Guard on Tuesday conducted a special enforcement drive against traffic rule violators in the Loknath Market area along the Eastern Bypass in Siliguri.
During the drive, strict action was taken against two-wheeler riders for violating traffic norms, including riding without helmets and driving without valid licences. According to traffic police sources, two riders were fined a total of ₹6,000 each, ₹5,000 for riding under the age of 18 and ₹1,000 for not wearing a helmet.
In addition, one motorcycle was seized after the rider failed to produce the required documents during checking.
Traffic police officials said such special drives will be conducted regularly to ensure road safety and prevent accidents in the city.
