Ashighar Police crack theft case with help of CCTV footage, two arrested

Siliguri, 10th May: The police of Ashighar Out Post, based on CCTV footage arrested two accused involved in a case of theft, also recovering the stolen goods from their possession. The accused have been identified as Rahul Chettri and Pradeep Roy, both residents of Ashighar, Siliguri.


Reportedly, on April 30, a group of miscreants stole goods worth lakhs of rupees from a godown located in the Shilpanchal area of Bholanath Para under Ashighar police Out Post. Later, the owner upon opening the godown on May 3, discovered the theft after which the matter was reported to police. Based on the complaint, Ashighar police started an investigation and identified four miscreants with the help of CCTV footage. Subsequently, the police undertook an operation and two accused were arrested on May 8. On May 9, both the accused were presented before the Jalpaiguri Court, where the court ordered police remand of 4 days.

Meanwhile, upon further investigation last night, police recovered iron items, batteries, scooty, and cycles stolen from the godown. Currently, police are on a hunt for apprehending the other two accused involved in the theft.
