Army official killed in elephant attack while on vacation in Bagdogra

Bagdogra, 30th October: An army official lost his life in a tragic elephant attack while on vacation with his friends. The deceased was identified as Kushal Chettri, who served with the Gorkha Regiment in Nagaland.


Reports indicate that Kushal was on holiday in the Panthabari area of Bagdogra on Tuesday when the incident occurred. He was attacked by an elephant in the Tirhana forest area near the Balason River.

Local residents alerted forest officials, and teams from the Bagdogra range, the Elephant Squad, and Bagdogra police quickly arrived at the scene to recover the body.


The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the local community. The body has been sent for an autopsy at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). The Bagdogra police have launched an investigation into the incident.
