Antorjatik Bangla Bhasha-Sanskriti Samiti raises demands of considering Bengali language as a classical language

Siliguri, 17th January: The Antorjatik Bangla Bhasha-Sanskriti Samiti demanded that the Bengali language should be considered as a classical language. Earlier, various languages including Tamil, Telugu, Sanskrit and other languages have been adopted as classical languages. Despite the prevailing tradition of ancient literary culture, the question of why the Bengali language is not getting its deserved position is being raised.

At a press conference in the Siliguri Journalists Club, Sajal Kumar Guha (editor of the International Bangla Language Culture Association Siliguri Branch), stated that they would submit a report to the Cultural Department of the Government of India regarding the matter. They further warned of staging larger demonstrations in the future if their demands are not met.
