Another arrested in birth-death certificate scam linked to Kharibari Rural Hospital

Kharibari, 13th November: The number of arrests in the birth-death certificate scam linked to Kharibari Rural Hospital has risen to six. After the arrest of the main accused Partha Saha, police conducted a raid in Phansidewa.


A joint operation was carried out by Phansidewa’s Bidhannagar Investigation Centre and Kharibari police station in Phansidewa block’s Bidhannagar Paik Para following information about an illegal business operating under the guise of online services. During the raid, Subrat Ghosh, also known as Liton, was arrested.

Police recovered multiple birth-death certificates from three computers in the accused’s shop. In addition, a retina scanner and a biometric machine used for Aadhaar creation were also seized.


The arrested individual will be produced before the Siliguri court on Thursday, and police will apply for remand. Authorities have also begun investigating the links between the newly arrested individual and the main accused Partha Saha in connection with the certificate scam at Kharibari Rural Hospital.
