Siliguri, 21st June: Siliguri is gearing up for the auspicious Ambubachi Puja, set to begin on Saturday at the Das Mahavidya Kamakhya Temple in Nepali Basti. Similar to the renowned Kamakhya temple in Assam, devotees will gather to celebrate the significant festival.
Reportedly, the door of the temple is kept closed during Ambubachi despite being open throughout the year. Various rituals and events are scheduled to take place from June 22 until June 26 within the temple premises. During this time, the idol will be traditionally covered in a red cloth until 25th. Following this, the idol will be unveiled on 26th when the worshipping ceremonies will be practiced.
Speaking about the festival, members of the temple committee emphasized its importance as a significant occasion for devotees who are unable to visit the Kamakhya temple in Assam. The doors will be closed for four days marked by various events followed by the opening on the 26th.
