Allegations against BLO in Rajganj as panchayat member files written complaint to BDO

Rajganj, 24th November: Tension spread in Ambari of Rajganj after multiple allegations were raised against a BLO and a written complaint was filed with the BDO by a local panchayat member.

Reportedly, the incident occurred at Kamarvita under the Binnaguri Gram Panchayat where objections were raised over alleged irregularities and bias in the distribution of enumeration forms.

Panchayat member Shukla Roy, also a BJP leader from the area, claimed that despite several residents having their names in the 2002 voter list and having voted in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, enumeration forms were deliberately withheld from many of them.

She alleged that most of the affected voters were BJP supporters. She further stated that the assigned BLO, Ratan Dhar, was previously a TMC booth president and, though no longer in that post, was excluding BJP workers’ names under directives from the ruling party.

She added that a written complaint has already been submitted to the BDO and warned that BJP workers may take to the streets if no action is taken.

BLO Ratan Dhar refuted the accusations, stating that all work is being carried out transparently following Election Commission guidelines and dismissing the allegations as baseless.

BJP leader Nitai Mandal also alleged deliberate exclusion of BJP supporters’ names, accusing the BLO of working for the ruling party. Meanwhile, TMC area president Tushar Dutta rejected the allegations, claiming BJP was spreading misinformation and said confusion around the SIR process has created fear among the public, pointing out that a recent death in Ambari occurred due to this panic.
