Siliguri, 18th August: The All India Save Education Committee (AISEC) staged a protest rally demanding immediate cancellation of the national education policy.
The teachers of various schools and colleges staged a protest outside the Siliguri Main Postal Office, on Tuesday.
According to the Save Education Committee, they staged a protest across the country today demanding the repeal of the national education policy. They stated that after the draft proposal of the National Education Policy was passed in the year 2019, disapproval in this regard was sent to the central government by several people from all over India. However, they alleged that the centre only gave priority to the BJP student organization.
The National Policy on Education is a policy formulated by the Government of India to promote education amongst India’s people. The policy covers elementary education to colleges in both rural and urban India.
In 2019, the Ministry of Human Resource Development released a Draft New Education Policy 2019, which was followed by a number of public consultations. The Draft NEP discusses reducing curriculum content to enhance essential learning, critical thinking and more holistic experiential, discussion-based and analysis-based learning. It also talks about a revision of the curriculum and pedagogical structure from a 10+2 system to a 5+3+3+4 system design in an effort to optimise learning for students based on the cognitive development of children.
