ADCP makes wearing ID cards mandatory for government employees during COVID-19 lockdown

Siliguri, 24th April: Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Dambar Singh Sonar has made it compulsory for the government employees to carry their identity cards while stepping out of their houses. He stated that such an initiative has been taken to prevent identity frauds that have increased considerably during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Naka checking is being carried out in various parts of the city from the past few days. On Friday morning, a man was detained in the Hashmi Chowk area for allegedly impersonating as an army officer to avoid the lockdown restrictions. His car had stickers of the Army and the Government of India. The police, upon asking him to show his identity card, the man failed to do so and confessed that he was a security guard by profession.

The ADCP stated that the government employees must carry their identity cards as Naka checking will be carried out on a regular basis. Apart from this, he urged all the citizens to not step out of their houses without emergencies and to follow all the government protocols properly.
