Rajganj, 27th July: Sensation prevailed after two students lost their lives in a road accident in Rajganj’s Telanipara. The deceased has been identified as Lipika Roy (15) and Mitali Roy (14).
It is to be noted that, on Sunday, a small four-wheeler car lost control and hit two students walking in the Telanipara area on the Sahudangi-Gandar more in Rajganj, severely injuring the duo as well as five passengers present in the car. The vehicle fell into a roadside drain.
The injured students were rushed to a private hospital, where Mitali Roy(14) succumbed to her injuries. Another student, Lipika Roy, was admitted to a private hospital in Siliguri. She breathed her last on Tuesday.
After the news came to light, an atmosphere of tension was witnessed in the area. Following this, a large police force including Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Joy Tudu went to the spot and handled the situation.
Local panchayat member Tayal Singh Roy said that the untimely death of the two students is unacceptable. “We are demanding punishment for the culprits. Besides, speed breakers should be installed on the roads,” he added.
