ABVP protests at Siliguri DI office over additional admission fees in government schools

Siliguri, 06th January: Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest at the DI office in Siliguri on Tuesday, alleging unauthorized collection of excess admission fees in government schools.

According to ABVP, while the prescribed admission fee in government schools is ₹240, several schools are allegedly charging students anywhere between ₹400 and ₹1,000. The organisation claimed that this is a clear violation of government guidelines, which mandate a fixed admission fee structure for all government-run schools.

ABVP leaders alleged that parents are being forced to bear an additional financial burden due to the illegal fee collection. They said students from poor and middle-class families are facing serious difficulties as a result.

The protesters demanded strict monitoring of admission fees across all government schools and called for immediate action against institutions found charging more than the prescribed amount.
