Rajganj, 25th August: The Rajganj police have arrested seven drivers and seized seven dumpers involved in illegal sand smuggling. The arrest occurred late Saturday night in the Rajganj area.
Reports indicate that the dumpers were caught transporting sand unlawfully from a riverbed in Oodlabari during the night. Acting on a tip-off, the Rajganj police conducted a raid and halted the vehicles for interception. The drivers were unable to produce the necessary documentation for transporting sand and stone leading to their subsequent arrest.
The arrested individuals and their vehicles have been taken into custody, and the accused are to be presented in the Jalpaiguri court on Sunday. Currently, the police have continued to investigate the case.
