6 kg 780 grams of brown sugar recovered in Siliguri, two arrested

Siliguri, 29th September: The Siliguri Special Task Force (STF) arrested a man with 6 kg 780 grams of brown sugar, on Tuesday night. The arrested accused has been identified as Vishnu Chettri, a resident of Tinsukia in Assam.


According to STF sources, Vishnu Chettri was traveling to Siliguri in a bus from Manipur. He brought brown sugar with him which he had planned to hand over to a person named Vijay Dahal in Panitanki. Dahal would further smuggle the brown sugar to Nepal. Acting on a tip-off, the STF team stopped a passenger bus in Fulbari and conducted a search. 6 kg 780 gms of brown sugar was recovered from Chettri’s bag.

The market value of the recovered brown sugar is more than one crore rupees. After investigation, Vijay Dahal was also arrested from Panitanki by STF. The duo will be produced in Siliguri court tomorrow.
