Jalpaiguri, 17th August: The 515th Manasa Puja was celebrated at Rajbari in Jalpaiguri, marking a significant event in the region’s cultural calendar. The Puja, which began on Saturday, is being observed over a three-day period, accompanied by a five-day fair.
Devotees started arriving early in the morning to participate in the Puja, which is held annually at Rajbari. Historically, the event was marked by a month-long fair, attracting visitors from various districts of the state as well as from Assam.
The Puja commenced in the presence of the Rajbari family members, with Rajpurohit Shibu Ghoshal confirming that the ceremonies began as scheduled. In addition to the Puja, the ongoing fair features various attractions, and a special programme of ‘Bishahari songs’ will be held following the Puja.
The celebration continues to draw crowds from near and far, reflecting the enduring significance of the Manasa Puja in the local cultural and religious landscape.
