47 buffaloes rescued from cargo truck in Muraliganj of Phansidewa, one arrested

Siliguri, 20th September: The officials of the Bidhannagar Investigation Centre successfully thwarted an animal trafficking attempt and rescued 47 buffaloes from a cargo truck. The incident led to the arrest of an individual, identified as Farman Alam, a resident of Dalkhola.


As per reports, the incident occurred during a routine check at Muraliganj in Phansidewa, where the police officials detained the vehicle. During the inspection, officers opened the vehicle’s doors and found the buffaloes.

Police sources indicate that the buffaloes were reportedly being trafficked from Bihar to Bangladesh via Assam. The arrested individual has been presented in the Siliguri Sub-Divisional court while an investigation is underway to uncover further details of the trafficking.
