Alipurduar, 04th December: In a significant breakthrough, the Excise Department busted attempted drug trafficking and apprehended a small four-wheeler loaded with cannabis from the Lalpul area of Kamakhyaguri located in Kumargram Block. During the search, 24 packets of cannabis, weighing about 114 kg 11 grams, were recovered. However, no arrest has been made in connection to the case.
According to reports, acting on a tip-off on Sunday evening, the Excise Department initiated checking at National Highway (NH) 31C in the area adjacent to Tetultala Chowpatti. Meanwhile, the police received information regarding a small four-wheeler parked on the side of the road in the Lalpul area of Kamakhyaguri.
Subsequently, the Excise Department personnel arrived at Lalpul, searched the vehicle, and recovered 24 packets of cannabis. The market value of the recovered cannabis is estimated to be about 11 lakh 41 thousand and 100 rupees. Currently, the Excise Department is engaged in further investigation.
