Siliguri, 10th January: BJP State President Shamik Bhattacharya on Saturday addressed a public meeting at the Dhakeshwari Kali Temple grounds along the Eastern Bypass in the Dabgram-Fulbari Assembly constituency.
The meeting was attended by former BJP State President Dilip Ghosh, Dabgram-Fulbari MLA Sikha Chatterjee, Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh, Jalpaiguri MP Jayanta Roy, district presidents from Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri, and several other party leaders.
Bhattacharya launched a sharp attack on the state government, criticising its policies and functioning, and urged party workers to prepare for the 2026 Assembly elections. Addressing the gathering, he said, “2026 is the deadline, change will definitely happen.”
Speakers at the meeting also referred to the I-PAC issue while raising allegations of corruption, accusing the state government of misusing funds meant for development in north Bengal. BJP leaders claimed that money allocated in the name of development had not been properly utilised, affecting the region’s growth and progress.
