Siliguri, 17th November: A 17-year-old girl was found hanging in her residence in the Shanti Nagar Bowbazaar Pipeline area under Ward No. 36 of Siliguri, causing widespread shock in the area. The deceased has been identified as Anu Roy.
According to local sources, Anu’s mother had left for work as usual on Sunday morning, leaving her at home with her brother. During this, the teen reportedly committed suicide. Her mother found her body upon returning home. The local police were immediately informed and arrived at the scene to recover the body and transported it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Anu’s father had passed away several years ago, and the family had been residing in a rented house in the area for the past few years. The family was reportedly facing financial hardships. After completing her higher secondary exams, Anu had to stop further education and work at a beauty parlor. The reason behind this tragic incident is yet to be ascertained.
Ward Councilor Ranjan Sil Sharma visited the location following the incident. The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
