Youth ‘struck to death’ by reckless school bus in Siliguri

Siliguri, 27th November: A youth tragically lost his life after being hit by a speeding school bus in Siliguri on Tuesday. The deceased, identified as Raju Rajbhar (28), was a resident of Ward No. 46. He worked at a furniture shop near Darjeeling More.


According to reports, Raju was headed to the market on Tuesday morning. However, around 11:30 AM, Raju was struck by a speeding private school bus near Khudiram Square in Mallaguri, under the Junction Traffic Police jurisdiction. After the incident, Raju was rushed to the Siliguri District Hospital for treatment, but his condition worsened. He was subsequently referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that night.

Raju’s father, who is devastated by the loss of his son, questioned the local authorities’ handling of the case. He asserted that 24 hours had passed since the incident, yet the bus driver had not been arrested. Locals have called for the immediate arrest of the accused driver and the confiscation of the school bus involved. They further demanded stronger enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such incidents in the future.
