Fulbari, 13th July: A tragic incident unfolded at Fulbari Mahananda Barrage where a youth lost his life after being swept away in the waters. The victim, identified as Suraj Roy (21), hailing from the Rangapani area of Siliguri, was visiting the barrage with his brother on Friday evening.
According to reports, the two brothers had arrived at the Fulbari Mahananda Barrage on their motorcycle. During this, Suraj slipped and fell into the water while attempting to wash his soiled feet in the water of the strong current.
Upon receiving the news, local authorities from the Phansidewa police station and members of his family rushed to the scene. The disaster management team conducted a search operation late into the night but were unable to locate the youth. On Saturday, the search for Suraj has resumed with efforts coordinated by the Phansidewa police and rescue team.
