Youth missing for four days, family and locals protest at NJP police station

Siliguri, 03rd January: A youth from Fulbari II Gram Panchayat has been missing for four days, with no trace of him found yet. The missing individual, Akash Das, a resident of Sipai Para-Jorpokhri, went missing under mysterious circumstances, prompting his family to express frustration with the police over the ongoing search.

According to reports, on Tuesday, December 31, around 7:30 pm, Akash was called by two of his friends to his house. Later, at around 3 a.m. on January 1, Akash’s two friends returned home and informed the family that Akash could not be found. The family filed a missing complaint at NJP police station on Wednesday morning.

Following the complaint, NJP police investigated the matter and arrested four of Akash’s friends. The friends’ statements were inconsistent, raising further concerns. On Thursday, divers were deployed to search the Jorapani River along Fulbari Canal Road, but Akash was not located.

On Friday, Akash’s family and locals staged a protest at NJP police station, accusing the police of inaction and questioning why the detained friends were released. The police have assured the family that efforts are ongoing and the youth will be found soon.
