Youth kills self after being slapped and beaten up at a picnic in Siliguri

Siliguri, 14th October: In a shocking turn of events, a young individual claims his life after being slapped and thrashed at a picnic on the eventful day of Mahalaya. The deceased youth has been identified as Vijay Sarkar, a resident of Ward No. 35 of Siliguri.


According to reports, the young man worked with tanker vehicles. On the day of Mahalaya, Vijay and his brother joined a few locals in a picnic outside his house. However, during the picnic, the two brothers engaged in an altercation which was later reconciled.

Vijay’s family alleged that following the minor dispute, Vijay was engaged in a significant brawl with a local, namely, Santosh Sahani, during which he was assaulted. Subsequently, as the family confronted him, the accused further proceeded and allegedly slapped Vijay and chastised him in front of everyone. Humiliated, Vijay returned home and later his body was found hanging from the noose behind his house.


Following this, he was transported to the Siliguri District Hospital where the medical professional declared him dead. Meanwhile, the accused Santosh Sahani’s vehicle was vandalized in response to the tragedy. On Saturday, North Bengal Medical College and Hospital performed an autopsy on Vijay’s body while Santosh and his family are currently absconding.
