Alipurduar, 23rd August: A youth was tragically killed in a hit-and-run on the national highway in the Gurudwara area of Hasimara, Kalchini block in the Alipuruduar district. The deceased, identified as Kamal Das, was a resident of Madhya Satali in the Kalchini block.
The incident occurred on Thursday night when Kamal Das, who had gotten off a train from Nagrakata to the Hasimara station, was walking home along the national highway. During this, a vehicle hit him, ran over him, and then fled the scene. As a result, Kamal Das immediately succumbed on the spot.
Police officials from the Hasimara Outpost arrived at the scene shortly after being notified. Subsequently, the body was transported to the Latabari Rural Hospital in Kalchini and later sent to the Alipurduar District Hospital for an autopsy. Currently, the police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
