Kharibari, 27th November: A youth from Sikkim was arrested with morphine in Naxalbari. The accused has been identified as Shamim Alam, a resident of Gangtok.
According to reports, the youth came to Kharibari’s Panitanki on Wednesday to buy drugs. Acting on a tip-off, jawans of 41st Battalion of SSB intercepted him at Naxalbari bus stand and conducted a search. Police recovered 23 grams of morphine from his possession.
The SSB handed over the youth to Naxalbari police, who arrested him based on the SSB’s complaint. He was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Thursday. Police have begun investigating to determine if others were involved in the case.
