Siliguri, 29th August: Bhakti Nagar police, in plain clothes, arrested a youth with narcotic injections and banned cough syrup late Thursday night in the Eastern Bypass area of Siliguri.
The accused has been identified as Jagabandhu Roy, a resident of Cooch Behar. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a scooty during a late-night operation. Upon searching a bag hidden inside the vehicle, officers recovered 145 vials of narcotic injections and 15 bottles of banned cough syrup.
According to police sources, the accused had brought the substances from Cooch Behar with the intention of selling them. He has been booked under the NDPS Act and produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Friday. Further investigation into the case is underway.
