Gajoldoba, 22nd July: A youth, identified as Raj Rai (18), drowned in the Teesta River while bathing with friends on Sunday evening in the Nipania area near Gajoldoba of Rajganj block. The deceased youth hailed from Pradhan Para village under the Sikharpur Gram Panchayat in Rajganj block.
According to family sources, on Sunday afternoon, Raj, along with two of his friends, ventured into the Nipania village area on a scooter to explore the Baikunthapur forest. In the evening, the three friends decided to take a dip in the Teesta River. During this time, Raj Rai drowned in the river, prompting his friends to call for help.
Upon receiving the news, family members and the officers from Bhorer Alo Police Station rushed to the scene. The police commenced a search for the youth throughout the night, and efforts have been ongoing since this morning.
