Siliguri, 5th April: Police from Bhakti Nagar Police Station have arrested a youth with firearm in Siliguri, amidst the election atmosphere. The accused has been identified as MD Sultan.
According to reports, plainclothes officers were on patrol in the Netaji Nagar area on Saturday night when they noticed a suspicious youth. Acting on suspicion, the police intercepted him and conducted a search.
During the search, officers recovered a firearm along with two live ammunition from his possession. He was immediately taken into custody.
A case has been registered against the accused on charges of illegal arms possession, and he was produced before the Jalpaiguri Court. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
