Siliguri, 03rd April: NJP police arrested a youth with a firearm and one round of ammunition from the Ambikanagar Railway Underpass area in Siliguri. The accused has been identified as Kartik Roy, a resident of Shantipara.
According to police sources, the accused had brought a country-made firearm and ammunition allegedly for sale. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted an operation and detained him. A search led to the recovery of the firearm, following which he was arrested.
Police are investigating whether others are involved in the case. The accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Friday. Further investigation is underway.
